Proper storage is critical to maintaining peptide integrity over time. Degradation can occur through hydrolysis, oxidation, aggregation, and other chemical processes, all of which are accelerated by heat, moisture, and light exposure.
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides should be stored at -20°C or lower in a sealed, desiccated container protected from light. Under these conditions, most peptides will remain stable for 12–24 months or longer.
Once reconstituted, peptides should ideally be used within a short period. If storage is necessary, aliquoting into single-use portions and storing at -20°C is recommended to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can cause aggregation and loss of activity.
For reconstitution, use sterile bacteriostatic water or an appropriate buffer as recommended for each specific peptide. Always allow the lyophilized vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent moisture condensation inside the container.
