They have very advanced equipment we can only see in the movies. Their equipment of course are suited to whatever research the lab is geared towards.

The purpose and uses of scientific research labs include, but is not confined to, the following: medical research (for coming up with medication for illnesses, for medical developments, for research on human sicknesses, and the like), technological research, scientific discovery breakthroughs (the discovery of the dinosaurs, uncovering the mystery of the T-rex, among other discoveries), among others are included in the importance of scientific research labs.
